The mission of Full Circle Construction LLC is to provide to its clients the highest level of quality in design, workmanship, and project management.
Peter’s career as a carpenter began as a high school community service project, helping elderly residents with home repairs. The seed was sown and soon he was rapidly gaining skills while paying his dues rough framing new homes. Plenty of time was spent framing with some finish carpentry and remodeling rounding out his formative years. Eventually the equation was flipped and Peter was primarily working in the area of home renovations where he used both his framing and finish carpentry skills. Before becoming self-employed, he worked as lead carpenter and project manager for some of the area’s top design-build firms including Design Group Three, Sazama Design Build Remodel, and Vintage Design. Peter is certified by the State of Wisconsin as a Dwelling Contractor and as a Lead-Safe Renovator. In the past, Peter successfully passed the exams for Apprentice and Journeyman level carpenter.
Peter also has a strong interest in the environment, especially renewable energy and renewable resources. He has used his own home, built in the 1890’s, as a testing ground. Solar panels, both photovoltaic and solar thermal, grace his standing-seam metal roof. The metal roof was installed to accommodate a future rain water reuse system. Multiple rooms inside the house have oak flooring re-claimed from a remodeling project and two skylights, also re-claimed, have found a home. In an effort to increase efficiency, windows were replaced, spray foam insulation was applied and radiant heat was also added. Landscaping around the house includes a native plant prairie, a woodland area with native plants, a rain garden, and a rooftop container garden for vegetables.
Community service continues to be a part of Peter’s life. Activities include active membership in the Friends of Jacobus Park, FIRST Lego Robotics coach for three seasons, and volunteer with the facilities committee at St. Matthews Lutheran Church. Peter is married and is the father of two daughters.
Established as PJ Building in 1989 and formed into Full Circle Construction LLC in 2008, our company has a long history in Milwaukee and the surrounding areas. The name of the company “Full Circle Construction” was selected for two reasons. One reason was to reflect the service the company offers, taking projects from their inception to their conclusion - bringing them “full circle”. The second was a nod to the environment as our company strives to bring materials “full circle” by recycling, repurposing, and reusing whenever possible.
The structure of the company is a Limited Liability Company run as a sole proprietorship, Peter Murphy – owner. Rather than employ carpenters, Peter works with a consortium of subcontractors from various trades, including carpenters, making the company’s workforce moldable in response to the specific needs of each project.
At the time that Full Circle Construction LLC was formed in 2008, attention to environmental concerns was a primary interest of the company. This has not changed. All materials removed from a jobsite are routinely recycled, taken to the ReStore if usable, or otherwise re-purposed if at all possible. Interest in and knowledge of materials, procedures, and finishes which are considered to be friendly to the environment are a priority. Thinking outside the box to balance the issues surrounding cost containment, a high quality project, and environmental concerns is a challenge we welcome.
All that being said, our company has chosen not to bill itself as a “green” or “eco-friendly” remodeler. Over the years we have seen these terms and others like them diluted, twisted, and rendered meaningless. Conventional remodeling projects that include the addition of a minor component such as extra insulation or perhaps low VOC paint are touted as “green remodeling”.
Full Circle Construction LLC has always and will continue to hold environmental considerations as “business as usual”.
